I’m at an Avenue 32 Fashion show in superb London venue and it is rather glitzy and I don’t mean the wrong side of town escorts glitz I’m talking about the crème de la crème. I received an invitation from one of the buyers who had asked me if I wanted to attend as she needed some glamour on the front row.

So I browsed through my wardrobe and found a little number I had only worn once before to Ascot racecourse. The bodice was black silk crepe-de-chine and contrasted by a pleated midnight-blue taffeta skirt with a soft lustre. The leather belt adds a daring finish to the dress.

It was a warm evening, about 20 degrees, so I wasn’t taking a coat. My Liberty across-the body pouch was a recent find. It had an Art Nouveau blue and black pattern and added interest to the outfit. My taxi was on time and I headed out.

I met with Harriet the buyer and chatted to her as we drank mojitos together and caught up. I was thankful that I had not brought a coat as it was warm in the building. I didn’t know anyone either, but it didn’t matter. Everyone was looking around and people-watching, as that is the main reason for being there, as well as looking at the fashions.

I sat next to a young Japanese gentleman and we chatted. He was an Assistant Buyer based in London and had an eye for designer gear. He knew my dress was by Vivienne Westwood and thought it looked fabulous. I laughed when he asked if I was a model. I’m too short and old for modelling, but he thought I possessed a mix of quaint British rose features, with a Nordic touch mmmmh maybe if he knew that I was a call girl he would want to sample some of my other less public features?.

 

I made a note of a couple of designers I had not heard of as the mojito relaxed me. I knew I’d have to wait for sale prices for most of these ranges, but I was not averse to spending if I particularly liked anything. I liked the Jonathan Saunders range and Alexander Wang shoes and sandals always opened my eyes. Sadly, I did not purchase anything, but I’d keep an eye on the sale.
